May Appropriation Road Furd and Board Chairman Elected

In a full county board meeting J C Gibbs of Columbus township was unanimously elected chairman with the first woman on the board acting as temporary chair. The board faces a major road funding decision after the June cloudburst. Road repairs require a likely $20,000 county allocation amid about $300,000 in damages. The meeting also formalized a bookkeeping plan and heard reports from probation officer Thomas Nolan and Dr H O Collins on juvenile services. An invitation from the Highway Commissioners was read for the Sept 1 Golden gathering, and sympathy was extended to the family of late supervisor William J Menke.
