Early tallies show 13 sitting judges re-elected with seven Republicans and six Democrats among those retaining seats, with two nonpartisan picks from the Chicago Bar Association. Orrin N. Carter and James V. Cartwright were re-elected, while Frank J. Dunn and Warren W. Duncan were noted among district results. The count lagged due to weather and a crowded ballot, including bond propositions. East St Louis reports June weather and partial results as the day continued.
