Court upholds US Steel in Sherman Antitrust case

The United States district court for New Jersey today refused to dissolve United States Steel Corporation and rejected all injunctions. The opinion by Judge Buffington says the case centers on business facts, not monopoly by size, and finds no wrong in acquiring Tennessee Coal and Iron or in Carnegie’s role. Four judges concur that the ruling will enter as a decree, with possible Supreme Court appeal.
