In Bayonne New Jersey two more workers were killed as fighting broke out between Standard Oil employees and armed guards. The death toll since the strike began rose to three with threats of militia involvement and calls for federal mediation. An eight hour day and stable wages were promised in writing by an official of the Remington Arms plant. The union hailed the development as a first step toward eight hour days in New England.
