Fire totally destroyed the Meriden Britannia Company main factory building in Merimwex on July 16 with an estimated loss of 450000 and insurance of 375000. Also reports indicate a baseball score of 27 to 9 with the White Stockings defeating the Olympics. Obituaries note deaths: Isaac O.
