New York July 15 The Herald prints Stanley's letters recounting his meeting with Dr Livingstone and Livingstone's expeditions. He describes the Nile head waters at the Chambers, ivory abundance, grass cloth manufacture, a near white descendant of ancient Egyptians, Katanga copper mines, and a friendly people. Stanley found Livingstone destitute, robbed by his men. Livingstone planned an 18 month expedition starting March 1872 to probe doubtful points before returning to England.
