The White Stockings led 11 to 6 after six innings, then the Athletics surged ahead by 12 runs in the next three frames. In Rockford, June 11 the Red Stockings and Forest Citys played to a 16 to 16 draw in a practice game, with a match slated for tomorrow.
The obsequies for actor Lingard were held at Rev Dr Gallandet's church on Eighteenth street with over four thousand attendees including Mrs Lingard and family. Police protected the widow as she rode to the grave.

In North Kingston on Wednesday Eliza A Smith wife of farmer Jeremiah Smith took her two children aged three years and eleven weeks from bed and drowned them in a rain water cistern then killed herself authorities report temporary insanity. In Cuiaco John J Durlin a former employee of Morse Roddin Hamilton attempted murder by firing at Morse in a jewel store though the pistol ball did not penetrate clothing, attributed to the weapon being loaded incorrectly.
