Springfield NL January 26. Six million dollars will be lost annually by the Springfield internal revenue district due to the federal prohibition amendment says internal collector J. L. Pickering. Most revenue comes from Pekin and Quincy distilleries now dry towns. Pre prohibition district revenue was about one million dollars monthly. Pekin distilleries stop whiskey production and provide government with commercial alcohol. Alcohol to government hospitals or denatured for lamp and chafing dishes bears no tax. No man is great from his neighbor's view.
