Annual Harvest of Ice Starts for 1916 Season
The ice harvest for 1916 began Monday with dealers mobilizing large crews to load and store ice in houses on the upper and lower bays. Despite thin river ice and snow covering, firms like the Plutmachers and EAL Pottle started cutting and packing while others prepared to open two more fields today. River work is delayed by weather, but machines and refrigerating gear are being added to speed collection and removal.
