Wool Used For Suit Of Clothes Selling For 5 25 In Market
Salt Lake City Utah Jan 16 The statement by H R King of Seattle before the National Retail Clothier's Association in Chicago that clothing prices will rise 25 to 40 percent due to wool costs is denounced as absurd by Dr S W McClure secretary of the National Wool Growers Association In Boston the highest price paid for wool in 90 days is around 210 a pound for finest grades Yet for a medium winter weight suit requiring about 62 ounces of wool the cost of wool is about 525 at current prices and even with fine wool the wool component is under 10 percent of the suit price The piece argues wool prices have not driven clothing costs
