Louis Lane, a Black man, was found guilty of murder in the first degree in Pittsburg after a second trial for poisoning his wife. In Mapoc Canada on January 8, Revy reports that Mr. Sparrow was assaulted and stabbed by Christie at Eldorado during the night. Christie has been arrested.

Finch of Dallas City produced two thousand gallons of Catawba wine this season. About ten Shurtleff College students were arrested at Upper Alton for hazing a new student named Johnson. Directors chosen for the Pittsfield Woolen Mills Company include W. R. Mills S. Grigsby E. F. Seeley Wim. Ross Jr. and G. W. Adams. Wickliffe Kitchell a long time Illinois resident died at Pana aged eighty. He first settled at Palestine Crawford county in 1817.

In Bankruptcy No 922 a warrant in bankruptcy issued against Agostinho C Lomelino of Quincy Adams County Illinois. He has been adjudged a bankrupt on his own petition. Debts and property transfers are forbidden. Creditor meeting to prove debts and appoint assignees will be held at Quincy before H Asbury on February 24 at 10 o clock.
