Harding new chairman of the committee. They were John T King of Connecticut A T Tier of Kentucky and James A Hemenways of Indiana. Senator Penrose of Pennsylvania passed through late Thursday afternoon and was hosted by Mr King. Chairman Hays has received hundreds of telegrams of congratulations from Republican leaders. Mrs Alice Roosevelt Longworth sent a telegram of congratulations. At a luncheon attended by leading Republicans Chairman Hays thanked supporters and said the national organization should deal on equal terms with all party representatives. He said he did not believe the organization should back any presidential candidate. Chairman Hays will leave Monday or Tuesday for Washington and later go to New York for conferences with party leaders.
