Strikers Wreck Two Cars In Pittsburgh
Rioting after a Pittsburgh Railway carmen strike action injured about a score of people and led to numerous arrests. Police protected initial car movements but crowds battered two cars in the business district as 300 strike breakers arrived from eastern cities. ST LOUIS Aug 26 A 74 year old man known as Dr William Roberts pretended to be a physician and fortune teller. Police women Buckley and Holt lured him to a car ride in a city patrol wagon where he claimed a license as a peddler. He offered two potions and a $225 price while insisting his patient own an automobile. He was arrested after the fainting feint led to discovery of his crumpled license.

Mexican border patrol ends six day pursuit of bandits
Marfa Texas August 26 American cavalry border patrol rested after six days in Mexico pursuing the bandits who kidnapped two American aviators. Nine more bandits were captured by Mexicans and six suspects arrested by Americans, with leader Jesus Renteria reported killed. Aviators aided liaison and supply runs, and the patrol will resume duty along the border amid tensions from Mexican incursions.

Ten trunks of arms and ammunition were shipped from New York to Mexico on the steamship Morro Castle which sailed for Havana Progreso and Vera Cruz detectives with the bomb squad say the trunks were loaded from a Broadway hotel. Authorities believe Mexican government agents were aboard and plan to detain the vessel with gunboats. Detectives traced the shipments to a sporting goods bill of sale dated August 16 and found more trunks at an uptown restaurant.

Wilson Letter Denying Shopmen Wage Claim
The President states that railroads face temporary wage pressures from shopmen seeking 85 cents an hour while current pay ranges from 58 to 63 and 65 cents. He argues a wage rise now would raise living costs, hit production, and inflate government burdens, urging a wage pause until normal conditions return and public funds cover only essential increases. Hessian Hut Ruin Found In New York City
Workmen unearthed a 12 foot deep site on Broadway between 169th and 170th streets showing a fireplace and flooring of a Hessian soldiers hut from the Revolutionary War. Reginald P. Bolton and William S. Calder of the New York Historical Society identify the find as part of 40 huts in the Gen. van Donop Camp used by Hessians until 1775 with gold buttons and bullets recovered.

Clubhouse inspection tour planned by country club board
