Breckinridge Victory Fits Alleged Vote Importation Theory
The Frankfort Commonwealth argues that Breckenridge’s 1852 district win over Letcher involved illegal votes from abroad. It cites 1851 and 1852 tallies showing Breckenridge ahead in several contests, concluding a nearly 1,500 vote rise suggestive of imported ballots. The piece notes Whig gains over Scott and Belgium’s July heat march where 400 men collapsed, six died.
