First Illinois Guards Arrive at Camp Logan Houston
In Houston on August 18 the first contingent of Illinois National Guard troops, three companies, arrived at Camp Logan and moved into quarters. Construction at the camp employs 3,400 men across 325 teams with 464 buildings finished, nearly 10 miles of water mains, 14 miles of streets and 25 percent of electric wiring completed.
