Torpedoing of Warilda a major submarine disaster

British ship Warilda was sunk early today with 105 to 130 dead, including women nurses. The vessel carried 600 sick and wounded, 89 nurses, Voluntary Aid members, and about 200 crew. 680 survivors were brought to port and sent to hospitals. The torpedo hit the engine room, the ward room housed over 100 patients and most were killed or drowned after the ship settled and water flooded the room.
