Enlistment Drive Draws 1200 Plus to Army Navy in Quincy

Recruiting in Quincy grows steadily since opening of the station at 1202 North Fifth Street. About 643 have applied for enlistment or information since March opening, with 600 applicants and 300 sent to Jefferson Barracks. Ages range 17 to 24, average about 21, and farmers dominate among applicants. The hospital corps, apprentice seamen, and aviation see growing interest, while ill proportions, eye defects, and flat feet bar many. Patriotism drives many to seek service after war declaration.
