Grand Jury Probe in Hannibal Over High Cost of Everything
The grand jury at the Hannibal circuit court term will probe profiteering amid the high cost of living. Citizens expect action as ice prices rise from 25 to 65 cents per hundred pounds and production costs climb. Ice and other trade prices, plus a government inquiry into food costs, spur calls for enforcement against profiteers. The ice industry faces scrutiny over weighing standards and ordinance enforcement amid rising prices and supply concerns.
