Washington April 29 A Washington special reports that officers from the regular army who were removed from active service will be reassigned as Indian agents in various districts. The move has backing from Gen. Sherman the Interior Secretary and the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and is approved by the President. It is hailed as a cost saving measure and a means to curb fraud against Indians on the frontier. President Grant and family and several generals visited Mt. Vernon via the Tallahassee. The President ordered the dissolution of several retiring boards in San Francisco St. Louis New York and Washington with Gen. Ord Gen. Graham Gen. McDowell and Gen. Hardee presiding.
