London April 4 The admiralty reports a sharp drop in British shipping losses from mine or submarine for the week ending March 30 only six merchantmen of 1600 tons or more and seven under that tonnage were sunk plus five fishing vessels. Liberty Bond Drive Begins At 9 Saturday
Washington reports forecast tremendous subscriptions for the third liberty loan on opening day Saturday. Although the campaign officially starts at 9 am local time, solicitors begin taking pledges now. The first bonds will be ready within a half day after enactment, with 300,000 daily output. By week’s end 14,000,000 bonds have been engraved, mostly $50 and $100 denominations. Secretary McAdoo will announce details on campaign length, installment schedules, and maturity.
