Development in Naden Harbor Coal Fields Moves Ahead

J. E. Purcell states Naden Harbor Coal and Oil Development Company employs eight men, preparing for drilling machinery arrival this week. The firm owns about 90 coal claims with a four foot tidewater outcrop and plans to ship coal and petroleum, alongside B. C. Oil Fields Limited's oil findings at Ozard Bay. The article also notes a near drowning accident involving Rev. Reid and two companions, all rescued and recovering.

Islanders Receive Visitors and Cargo Amid Regional Transit Changes

Mr and Mrs Minns arrive from Cascade B C with family. The Laura F arrives at Lockport with explosives for Lockport Mining Co. The steamer Prince Albert runs to the islands while Prince John is repaired at Esquimalt. Rev W M Reid of the Canadian Bible Society visits the islands and speaks at the Presbyterian Church. He will tour Massett and other northern points. In New York a baby boy born after his mother’s death weighs eight and a half pounds and may survive, doctors noting life persisted post mortem, a startling case.

First BC Fisheries Halibut Shipment From Skidegate

The B. C. Fisheries Ltd. sent its initial shipment on Saturday as the s s Aliford departed Skidegate for Prince Rupert with half a ton of smoked halibut. The cargo will be loaded onto a GTP steamship for transfer to Victoria. Dogfish oil production began a few days ago.

Government Agent Leaves for East Coast Road Work

E. M. Sandilands, government agent, leaves on Wednesday for east coast points and Tow Hill on road work business. T. R. Davey administers the office in Sandilands absence. Ashdown Green and A. G. Austen finished the Indian Village survey and depart for Victoria. A flag pole was set up at the school and the government flag now flies. Trustees thank helpers who assisted.
