Donna Levine, mother of Jonathan Lucas Levine who died at 18 from methadone linked overdose, launches Mad Over Methadone to educate parents and youths. She sold her car to cover startup costs. Florida Medical Examiners Commission notes methadone as a top three drug death cause, with a 5 percent rise in deaths in 2009 over 2008.
