Wells Fargo plans multimillion motel complex near KOA Campground
On September 14 1972 Wells Fargo announced a plan to build two hotels east of the KOA Campground off US 66 with 175 to 180 units each and a central shopping area. Construction was to start in six months plus a veterinary clinic and equine facilities. The Urban Development Board backed a downtown plan featuring a closed Main Street mall and rescinded the October 1971 plan. Buena Vista School was confirmed within city limits and annexed in 1967 with fire protection questions resolved.
