The Sept 17 event at Tucumcari Historic Railroad Plaza features Odd Lab from Fired Up festivals and food trucks open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event, subject to change due to COVID, is in Tucumcari at Second and Main streets.
The Tucumcari and Logan Senior Centers provide qualifying residents with grab and go meals. Contact Tucumcari at 461 2307 or Logan at 487 2287 for details. The weekly menu lists breakfast and lunch items across days with milk included.
The message contrasts coercive power with Jesus teaching patience and grace. Tucumcari’s Love’s Appliance Sales & Service at 117 S. Second St. will be renamed Appliance Connection as Robert Marroquin takes ownership after nearly five decades under Ray and Norma Love. Marroquin, a former Love’s repairman and FORGE program participant, plans new inventory and sign repainting while continuing recognizable brands and service.
Admission to the pageant will be 1.50. Preparations were under way for the annual parade. The Odeon Theatre showed Vanishing Point with music by Delaney and Bonnie and others. The Canal Drive-In screened Valentin De La Sierra and Vestidas Y Alborotadias.
On September 8 1971 Gov Bruce King spoke at the New Mexico Municipal League and Urban Renewal Association conferences in Tucumcari arriving at Tucumcari Municipal Airport in a National Guard escorted ride. Mayor Kenneth Schlientz and City Commissioner Tommy Thomas welcomed him while Chamber crews prepared for the Pinata Festival and Pinata Queens Pageant at the junior high auditorium.
Quay County On the Move hosts a four museum scavenger hunt in Tucumcari from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept 18. Participants visit the New Mexico Route 66 Museum, Tucumcari Railroad Museum, Tucumcari Historical Museum, and Mesalands Dinosaur Museum and stamp at each location to earn prizes.
