Protesters chain themselves to obelisk over Indigenous recognition
In Santa Fe Plaza on Oct 10 two protesters chained to the obelisk and urged action on Indigenous recognition. A crowd gathered as signs condemned racism and colonialism while callouts to mask compliance and out-of-state visitors aimed to curb virus spread. The obelisk, erected in 1868, honors soldiers from battles in New Mexico and has faced renewed removal debates after calls by Mayor Webber in June.
