Sixth racing license in New Mexico stalled since 2011
The six license project for a racino in Raton faced delays after La Mesa Racing’s license was revoked. Despite a 2014 Court of Appeals ruling clearing the way to reopen, the racing commission chose public hearings with current owners and industry voices and has not placed the license on a meeting agenda. Chalmers of Coronado Partners LLC died in April 2014. his family remains interested. Laguna Development Corporation proposed a racino in Clovis, while the Quay County Gaming Authority dissolved and duties moved to the Greater Tucumcari EDC, with Frost continuing as race track coordinator.
