New Mexico DOT plans 16 million Highway 54 upgrades
The New Mexico Department of Transportation outlined 16 million dollars in four mile improvements to U.S. Highway 54 from I 40 to north of Tucumcari. The plan includes ramp replacements, four widened lanes with turning lane, sidewalks, lighting, and drainage to ease congestion from commercial traffic and improve safety. Construction could begin in 2017 in phases pending environmental surveys and funding.

City renews MainStreet and chamber lease in Tucumcari
Tucumcari City Commission renews a ten year lease with the Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce and Tucumcari MainStreet at $1 annually or in kind services. MainStreet has generated $32 000 for the community and received grants for downtown revitalization. A four year contract at 35000 per year was also approved.
