Ute Pipeline gains ground with $4.2 million in grants eyed
Eastern New Mexico Water Utility Authority leaders expect about 4.2 million in funding from the Water Trust Board and Bureau of Reclamation to speed the Ute Pipeline construction. Officials cited a potential 3.2 million from the Water Trust Board and an over 800000 from Reclamation with a 1 million target. Col. Ben Maitre of Cannon AFB pledged support in a letter to be shared in Washington.

Mesalands grants posthumous degree amid 38 Friday graduates
Mesalands Community College plans 38 certificates and degrees at Friday ceremonies. A posthumous Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration will be awarded to Tonie Martinez’s family after Martinez died in a single car crash on Navy 1 2014 near Logan. Student speaker Cynthia Anaya, 21, describes her journey from GED to Mesalands and plans to pursue CNA and phlebotomy training. The 2015 commencement speaker is Dr. Richard Luarkie, former Governor of the Pueblo of Laguna, with ceremonies at the Tucumcari Convention Center. San Jon High School also holds its ceremony at 7 p.m. with seven seniors graduating.

The Quay County Commission will act as fiscal agent for the Quay County Health Council as it conducts a Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital community health assessment with Presbyterian Healthcare Services providing 5000 dollars.
