Governor appoints new New Mexico racing commission
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham named five new members to the New Mexico Racing Commission after canceling an April 30 meeting to discuss a sixth license. The appointees include Beverly Bourguet, John Buffington, Freda McSwane, David Sanchez, and Billy G. Smith, all with ties to racing or veterinary business. The move preserves Tucumcari’s chances while officials say the commission will decide future licensure and direction without interference.
