Ute watershed meeting on water quality issues
The Canadian River Riparian Restoration Project held a March 18 hearing at the Tucumcari Convention Center as New Mexico builds a Ute Reservoir Watershed Plan. Officials ranchers and landowners discussed funding and measures to reduce runoff and improve water quality with EPA support possible. A draft plan is expected by year end.

Tucumcari officials hold a 6 pm City Commission meeting at City Hall with a public workshop at 5 pm. Mesalands Community College hosts Student Activity Week culminating Thursday morning with the Maze of Life on healthy choices. Quay County NRA Banquet Honors Veterans and Funds 4-H Shooting
The Quay County Friends of the NRA banquet drew about 400 attendees and raised roughly $33,000 to support local 4-H youth firearms education and activities. Five veterans, including 100 year olds Horace Woods and Fred Morgan, were honored. Proceeds stay in Quay County to fund rifle shotgun and pistol programs.

Quay County Treasurer Nadine Angel resigns effective May 30
Quay County Commissioners accepted the resignation of Treasurer Nadine Angel at a meeting in Nara Visa. Angel cited personal reasons and noted she was elected in 2013 for a term ending 2016, having first been appointed in 2011. The board also approved language for advertising the vacant post.
