NRCS announces April 3 deadline for EQIP WHIP signups

The NRCS says April 3 is the FY2009 sign up deadline for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program and Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program. Tucumcari district conservationist Jim Norris urges farmers and ranchers to apply early. Eligible producers include individuals and entities with farms or non industrial private forests. WHIP supports private landowners building wildlife habitat while tribal lands are ineligible. Farmers should contact the Tucumcari NRCS office at 463-3612 ext. 3 for details.

Dr Gritzmacher Named Medical Director at Quay County Center

Richard Gritzmacher known as Dr G was named medical director of the Quay County Family Health Center earlier this year. He trained at the University of Wisconsin and Yale, worked with Indian Health Service in Arizona, ran a private practice in Old Saybrook Connecticut, and has held locum tenens posts nationwide with focus on the Southwest. He discusses challenges from financial limits on care to diabetes education and plans facility upgrades at 1302 East Main Street.
