County Coyotes test positive for red Mange
During a Quay County Commission meeting USDA wildlife specialist Ron Jones said two of 12 coyotes trapped in three weeks tested positive for red mange. Coyotes move toward Tucumcari amid drought, prompting concerns pets and small dogs may be at risk as mange can spread to humans. Veterinarian Jean Corey notes two pet mange cases in Quay County this year, a first in her 30 years of practice.

Bernalillo Man Killed In Train Collision Near Logan
A Bernalillo man identified as Pres Salazar died when a Union Pacific train collided with his tractor-trailer near Logan on NM 469 at mile marker 43. The crash occurred at 8:54 a.m. near the railroad crossing adjacent to Logan’s landfill, according to New Mexico State Police.
