Local D A Timothy Rose and Nancy English Nominated for 10th District Judge

The 10th Judicial District Nominating Committee recommended District Attorney Timothy L. Rose and longtime lawyer Nancy English for the 10th District judgeship to replace Albert J. Mitchell Jr. Gov. Grisham will decide in coming weeks. The district covers Quay Harding and De Baca counties. Rose, 48, is from Logan and has served as district attorney since 2013 after earlier private practice and a Texas Tech Law degree. English is a longtime Tucumcari resident with deep local ties.

Route 66 Centennial planners hold first stakeholder meeting

New Mexico Route 66 Centennial Coordination Group held its kickoff stakeholder meeting at the Tucumcari Convention Center with 60 plus attendees including Tucumcari officials. The group aims to celebrate the Mother Road’s 2026 centennial with ideas on signage, events, and preservation projects across multiple NM cities.

MCC audit shows improvements at Mesalands Community College

The Mesalands Community College and its foundation cut audit findings in 2022 to nine from 17, with the 2022 major federal program audit moving to an unmodified opinion. Board Chair Richard Primrose credited staff effort as the campus eyes FY2023 and FY2024 audits, while state auditor Donna Trujillo outlined plans to complete the FY2023 by June and FY2024 by November 15.

New Mexico State Parks Propose Broad Fee Revisions

State parks propose eliminating day-use fees for residents and annual passes while sharply raising fees for boats and camping. The plan would affect 35 parks including Ute Lake and Conchas Lake with new resident and non-resident day-use fees, higher camping costs, boat registration and launch fees, and increased entrance fees. Public input is invited through March 29 with informational meetings scheduled state wide.
