Coronado Partners filed a revised application for a horse racing track and casino in Tucumcari with the New Mexico Racing Commission and urged a sixth license. Warren Frost said new commission leadership may move quickly, with a June 17 agenda likely to include the proposal.
Logan High School held a May outdoor graduation on the football field as 19 seniors walked across a temporary stage and six seniors completed the district’s graduation route. Valedictorian Kambry Burns paid tribute to her mother Crystal Burns principal and her father Billy Burns a longtime teacher and athletic director. Chester Bobbitt of San Jose is among the alphabetically listed applicants. he retired from the New Mexico State Police in 2019 and earlier served as a Tucumcari officer in the 1990s.
Downtown Tucumcari business owners complain about property damage from the Second Street project. They accuse crews of shrugging off claims. Issues cited include concrete casting errors, winter weather, and disputed materials as officials note a Jan. 11 completion target. Mayor Litchfield and City Manager Martinez respond.
