New Mexico Republicans and Democrats agree the governor’s race will dominate the November election. Curry County Republican Chairman Rube Bender says the Susana Martinez Diane Denish contest is shaping up as historic and highly watched.
In the contested primary for District 3 representative Thomas Mullins and for governor Diane Denish led Democratic contenders. Martinez, a Dona Ana County prosecutor, captured about 51 percent in a five candidate GOP contest. Denish remains the Democrats’ choice for governor.
Edwin Bruhn factors precinct results with a phone calculator during Tuesday's election to sum Quay County Commissioner District 3 totals.
Brad Bryant won the Republican District 3 county commissioner primary with 301 votes, edging Edwin Bruhn who had 235 and Bill Cone with 154. No Democratic opposition exists for the November general, and Franklin McCasland is term limited.
More than 100 Logan residents gathered for the dedication of the Logan Veterans Memorial Marker at Logan Cemetery. A flyover by Cannon AFB aircraft honored fallen service members as Col. Paul Pena spoke about supporting veterans and future troops. 115 names are on the stone with more anticipated, according to Randy Bruhn.
