Storm damages homes and property in Tucumcari
On July 13 1972 a severe storm damaged Anthony Ritter’s home in the 1800 block of South Jackson Street tearing off a porch and windows and creating a roof hole. The storm also destroyed Ritter’s garage downed power lines. another garage on Charles Street collapsed. Fences doghouses sheds trees and other property suffered. No injuries were reported. The city’s power plant output reached 8550 kilowatts with 600 kilowatts remaining and another 4000 noted.

Agreement to reduce aquifer pumping near Cannon AFB
The Ogallala Land & Water Conservancy and Clovis Curry County group seek a three year plan with 10 north and west of Cannon AFB landowners to stop irrigation from 53 wells in the Ogallala Aquifer. Nine billion gallons would be conserved and water supplied by Ute Reservoir and reused water would supplement Clovis and Curry County.
