Severe storm damages Yucca Motel and logs roof loss in Logan
A strong thunderstorm packing 70 to 80 mph winds and large hail damaged property across Logan and nearby areas. Wind toppled trees, flipped a pop up camper near Ute Lake State Park, tore off motel roofs, and caused widespread water damage while keeping hotels full during a holiday weekend. Neighbors aided tarping and cleanup as owner Jennifer Perry thanked the community.

Roughstock event returns to Tucumcari with big prize
Roughstock action drew fifty contestants in the Champion Roughstock Challenge. BR Rodeo Productions GM Robert Allemand praised Tucumcari’s rodeo heritage and announced a $10,000 purse while highlighting world class stock and top Professional Bull Riders Inc. athletes. Junior CRC riders also competed earlier to develop future stars. Allemand eyed a May Tucumcari CRC event and noted a New Year’s Eve show in Amanita, Texas.

Local women gain experience at 2016 Miss New Mexico Pageant
Leah Taylor Miss Quay County 2016 and another Portales competitor spent June 13 18 at Eastern New Mexico University competing in Miss New Mexico and Outstanding Teen events. Taylor 2014 Logan High School graduate and ENMU student says the experience boosted interview skills and confidence and spurred plans to continue competing. She advocates breast cancer awareness during the pageant.
