Tucumcari Plans Part Time Shifts in 2021 Budget
Tucumcari will not cut positions in fiscal year 2021 but will convert 10 jobs to part time and allow two employees to transfer to other departments. Acting city manager Mark Martinez announced the plan during a city commission budget discussion. Finance director Rachelle Arias cited state minimum wage increases as the main driver and noted no COVID-19 revenue cuts.

Tucumcari Man Faces New Drug Trafficking Counts
Ralph Earlwayne Fletcher 30 of Tucumcari faces two trafficking counts and three more felony drug counts in an amended complaint filed June 22. Police found marijuana methamphetamine and cocaine and a ledger with money owed and purchases. Fletcher earlier faced animal cruelty charges and a hung jury in December with a later August misdemeanor trial planned.

Tucumcari man charged after threatening pregnant woman
Peter Thomas Briones 23 faces four counts including a third degree felony for negligent child abuse and two battery counts after threatening and shoving a pregnant woman and restraining order violation. Police say he threatened to harm her and the baby while holding the couple’s infant. Briones was arrested June 23 on a no-bond hold.
