Elementary band shines at New Mexico music festival
The 23 member Orff Ensemble from a New Mexico elementary school performed for about 1,000 people at Popejoy Hall on Jan 7 during the All State Music Festival and In Service Conference. Students from fourth through sixth grades played xilophones recorders and recycled plastic drums. The program relies on after school practice funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant.
