Education Grant Funds 12 Week Wind Energy Certificate at Mesalands

The North American Wind Research and Training Center funds a 12 week Occupational Certificate in Basic Wind Energy Technology at Mesalands Community College. Director Jim Morgan notes the program teaches turbine technology maintenance safety and wind economics with hands on training on the 1.5 megawatt turbine next to the Wind Center. Graduates may enter the wind energy field or pursue further studies toward a full degree.

Incumbent Antonio J. Apodaca seeks another four year term with a platform to protect residents rights, secure Ute Lake water, support Racine, curb rate hikes, boost youth recreation, and upgrade infrastructure including a new waste water plant. Dora Salinas-McTigue promotes moving Tucumcari forward with staff collaboration and a racino push, while criticizing responsiveness to public input. The election is March 6 with absentees voting starting Tuesday and early voting beginning Feb 15.
