A sampling of calls received by the Tucumcari Police Department central dispatch for Quay County outlines recent incidents and responses from local law enforcement. The blotter highlights typical police activity in the area.
A series of police log items detail a prowler on South Adams Street, domestic dispute on South Eighth Street, shots fired on South Fifth Street, unwanted visitor at a fuel station on South First Street, property damage at a fuel station on South Mountain Road, erratic driving on West Route 66, theft on West Aber Avenue, an alarm at a South Monroe Street business, burglaries on South Eighth Street and Tucumcari Boulevard, a traffic stop on West Sunset Avenue, and other arrests and notices involving North Second Street North Tenth Street East Main Street South Third Street and South Thirteenth Street.
LeDeane Studio marked eight years in business by a prize giveaway. Winners were Shara Latham Joanne Hall Sandra Eis and Mrs L Roach. City police pursued a stolen car on South Jackson Street after a suspect from Tucumcari tried to flee and crash into an irrigation ditch. The thief was hospitalized and then booked for car theft.
Quay County Commission meets at 9 a.m. at the Quay County Courthouse. Altrusa Club of Tucumcari meets first and third Wednesdays at noon at Pow Wow Restaurant. American Legion Auxiliary hosts bingo Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at the Bingo Hall. Tucumcari Kiwanis meets Wednesdays at noon at Pow Wow Restaurant. Tucumcari Rotary meets Thursdays at Pow Wow Restaurant. VFW Post 2528 holds bingo Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Alcoholics Anonymous unity group meets Mondays at 7 p.m. and Narcotics Anonymous at 6 p.m. at local church. The Tucumbari Senior Center offers dinners for Dec 30 to Jan 5 featuring Chicken primavera with sweet carrots au gratin potatoes and pumpkin spice bread. Closed for New Year Eve. Meals include Meatballs with wild rice carrots and peppers bread sticks fruit yogurt. Chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes gravy green beans wheat rolls margarine apple cobbler stuffed peppers baked beans carrots biscuits fruit cocktail.
