More than 50 county residents met with Senators Pat Woods Pete Campos and Representative Dennis Rock at the Tucumcari Convention Center to press water policy and transportation funding priorities. Logan officials cited a $16 million utility upgrade and urged a minimum Ute Lake pool level and four lane U.S. 54 with a new bridge. Arch Hurley Conservancy District called for funds to install underground pipelines for district-wide water distribution.

In December 1966 Forrest Currell Lumber Co began work on the Elks Lodge featuring a swimming pool dining room lodge room sauna a small gym and a kitchen. The project cost totaled 172000.
