Memorial service honors Sue Day and Sheri Folts in Tucumcari
About 200 mourners, including former wards and friends, gathered at the County Fair Barn to remember Sue Day, 76, and her daughter Sheri Folts, 49, slain November 26. Their son Tony Day, 14, is held in connection with the deaths. Neighbors and church members recalled Sue Day as a devoted caregiver to many children and Sheri Folts as a diligent helper for the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

Tucumcari Parade of Lights showcase 16 entries downtown
The Tucumcari Chamber of Commerce parade on December 8 featured 16 entries from the Mesalands Dinosaur Museum T Rex to a holiday lit ATV. Debbie Lafferty coordinated the event returning after a two year break, with entries gathered across fire trucks flatbeds and jeeps ending at the Train Depot. Awards crowned Mesalands Community College in first place and Jack's Truck Repair in second with Pacheco Construction and Trucking taking third in general classifications while individual winners included Adam Lopez Lopez Farms Crazy Charley VIP Jeep and Austin and Bailey for a four wheeler.

Pearl Harbor veterans honor attack at Logan Legion Post
About 50 Logan residents gathered at American Legion Post 77 on the 71st anniversary of Pearl Harbor to honor World War II veterans. Prayers, half mast flags, speeches, poetry, and a slide show accompanied stories from Navy veterans Leonard Bartlett and Howard Robertson. Robertson recalled meeting Ernie Pyle and an incident of going AWOL to see his brother.
