Parade of Lights brightens Tucumcari weekend with 25 entries
A Christmas Parade of Lights drew 25 lighted floats and entries along Route 66 in Tucumcari. Carmen Runyan said early entries nearly doubled from last year as the event combined a horse drawn carriage with traditional favorites. Winners included Tucumcari Historical Museum wagon in general, Jesus Macias cross float in religious, and High Plains Horseman's Club in recreational. conditions were mild despite a west wind and Santa plus a Christmas Expo followed at the convention center with crafts and treats.

Two Dead After Friday Night Tucumcari Shooting
New Mexico State Police identify two men dead after a Friday night shooting at a Pizza Hut in Tucumcari. Jimmy Chavez age 37, manager of the restaurant, and assailant Flip Anaya age 23 were involved in an apparent murder suicide. Police said the incident began around 9 13 p m with an argument inside the restaurant and escalated outside as Anaya fired at Chavez.
