Recount ordered in San Jon school board race
In San Jon, Eddie Ray Berends trails incumbents Dale Bone and Brian Watson by small margins with two seats up for grabs. A mandatory recount will occur if a margin is five votes or 1 percent or less, with hand counting of the first 100 ballots before machine tallying if no discrepancies are found. A statewide voting system check will also occur in three Precinct 10 races in Tucumcari after recounts, part of random election checks. Canvass board certified Nov 7 results. New Mexico turnout was about 20.5 percent, Quay County 26.7 percent.
