Quay County reports rising DWI arrests in the third quarter of fiscal year 2011. Adult detention shows 206 inmates total with 33.2 daily average and 14.46 days average stay. population Monday 36 with 31 men and 5 women. Juvenile detention had 34 inmates and 583 total days. DWI arrests totaled 14 with average BAC 0.14. 12 are first-time offenders, one second-time offender, one third-time offender. Revenue noted from juvenile and ankle monitoring programs.

San Jon completes wastewater plant upgrade
The San Jon wastewater treatment plant nears completion as village officials tour the facility. Wastewater flows through lines into three lagoons lined with plastic to prevent ground seepage and about 98 percent evaporates into the air.
