Five Tucumcari Students Reach FCCLA National Finals
At the Albuquerque state FCCLA competition, high schoolers Natalie Hayes and Kelli Lamm and middle schoolers Sariah Mardo Lacey Galvan and Alexandra Rosas qualified for nationals in Anaheim California June 30 to July 4. Hayes won gold with a second place in Nutrition and Wellness. Lamm earned silver and first in Fashion Construction. Other Tucumcari competitors included Martin Reyes Steven Salas Gracie Otero Destiny Vigil Anna Simpson Elena Gutierrez. Mardo and Galvan earned gold and first in Chapter in Review Portfolio. Rosas won gold and first in Illustrated Talk and competed in Knife Skills. Other middle school participants were Julian Pena Brittany Moya Blanca Gallegos Aleeja Salvado Taylor Hinders Kaitlyn Benavidez Estella Cordova Haisley Huffman.

The state library operates three bookmobiles in New Mexico delivering up to 4000 volumes to underserved rural communities. In Quay County the stops include Grady Grady Post Office Nara Visa Logan San Jon Quay McAlister House Newkirk and Conchas with scheduled times in May and June, and some dates carry over from April.
