81 Hours Of EMT Training Completed By Local Firemen

Seven La Porte City firefighters and Sally Sides joined a Hawkeye Tech course in Traer to earn EMT certificates after completing 81 hours of classroom study and 4 hospital observation hours. The program trained in bleeding control breathing support trauma and patient extraction among other skills with tests and practical evaluations.

Swim Team Parents and Family Potluck at Pool

A potluck supper for the swim team and families is set for June 5 at 7 P.M. on the pool grounds. Families bring hot and cold dishes. drinks provided. Dues are $2.00 for the year. Four meetings follow to size sweat suits. contact Mrs. Calkins by June 5 if unable to attend.

La Porte Fire Department Trains In Area Seven Evaluation

Bruce Kline and Jack Schafer headline a fifteen member Area Seven evaluation team with La Porte Fire Department members to undertake a training course this year. Volunteers from La Porte City include Jill and Jo Stapleton, daughters of Norman and Mrs Stepleton, and Davis Otis, son of Roger Otis, who served as patients for the practical final examination.

La Porte City pool officials reveal this summer’s lesson timetable with multiple sessions from June through August. Details include age groups from 4 to 8 years, life saving, intermediate levels, and adult lessons with sign up from May 31 to June 7. Sessions may be taught on Saturdays if weather forces rainouts.

Interested youths in La Porte City may sign up at the Pool or Calkins Barber Shop by June 5. Eligible are beginners through eighteen. Dues to the AAU are 2.00 for under 12 and 3.00 for 12 and over.
