La Porte City Printing Installs Heidelberg Offset Press
La Porte City Printing Inc recently put into production an 18 by 25 percent Heidelberg Kord offset press shipped from Germany on April 27. Heidelberg rep Steve Goseweich spent three days setting it up, replacing a 23 year old Harris offset. The shop also houses a 10 by 15 Heidelberg platen press and an 11 by 17 ATF Chief offset, plus a modern typesetting department with Fairchild TS Electro Set, a 2961 Compugraphic, IBM Composer, and a Compugraphic 7200 for display type. The plant includes its own process camera, plate, and bindery departments to support offset production.

Music Department Swing Show Planned for May 17
The Music Department dedicates its effort to a swing show on May 17 at 7 30 p m with sets props costumes and rehearsals underway. It promises a wide variety of numbers from yesteryears and recent hits and invites students teachers and the community to attend.

Fire Department Emergency Vehicle Fund Drive Reaches $7,520
La Porte City Fire Department reports the Emergency Rescue Fund exceeded $7,500 as of last Saturday with donations ongoing. Over 50 percent of mailed targets contributed, with gifts from two dollars to one hundred dollars. Extra funds beyond the needed 5,500 will be set aside for repairs and supplies for the two ambulances.

Lightning Strikes St Joseph Church at Raymond
Firefighters from La Porte City and other units responded under the Black Hawk County Mutual Aid Fire Agreement to a call at about 5 30 Pm. at Raymond. The St Joseph Catholic Church was hit by lightning Friday afternoon and was completely destroyed.

Casey Robb Named President of NE Junior High Council
Casey Robb, an eighth grade student at La Porte City Junior High, was elected president of the Northeast Town District of Junior High Student Councils for 1972 73. The spring meeting and officer election occurred April 25 in Dubuque with participations from eleven counties. Robb pledged district unity and broader participation. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Carroll Robb of Mt Auburn and is a B student active in football wrestling and track.
