Local notices recount Fathers Day visits across the region. Families from La Porte City to Des Moines, Marshalltown and Waterloo joined kin in celebrations with dinners, picnics, and visits. Attendees include the Brenna, Mahood, Rossow, O’Brien, and Castle families, plus several relatives from Cedar Falls, Ames, and South Bend.
Bruce Boosters and Bruce Booves 4-H clubs held a June 11 tour visiting seven beer calves, three projects, one sheep and five rabbit projects. A La Porte City park meeting followed with 15 members. Karen Taylor named Queen of the Furrow candidate. Orange Blossoms hosted an all day workshop June 15. a July 15 achievement show and $300 prize revue were planned. Cedar Champettes and Big Creek Sr. Farmers held lessons and demonstrations on health, appearance, sewing, and farm crafts. Cedar Champettes June meeting featured talks on health examination, posture, foods, labels, and demonstrations on pressing equipment. Birch Creek Goal Getters reported a June 15 meeting with pledges, minutes, and a traveling basket plan.
Door prize winners at the Peoples Natural Gas open house in La Porte City Grade School auditorium are Kathryn Quinn for a light, David Wilson for a blanket, Jimmy Schuman for a gas lighter, Jim Edsill for a blanket, and Kat Wallner for a covered dish.
At the annual meeting last Wednesday night manager reports year sales at 910500 with dividends on preferred stock totaling 31492 and an Educational Fund reserve of 7632.16 leaving a remaining surplus of 7592.16. Three reelected directors include Ivan Randal and Francies Christian along with Niemeyer Ed Cherner Melvin Biner and Don Taster.
Two soldiers stationed in Germany connected to La Porte City and Geneseo high schools attended Iowa State Teachers College and Geneseo high school respectively. Specialist Lamos served as a tank driver in Baumholder and joined in March 1958, overseas by November. Specialist Becker, 23, son of Joe Becker, entered the Army in April 1958, trained at Ft Knox, and deployed overseas in September.
May bond sales in Black Hawk county totaled 211 210 with five month total reaching 1 661 582 for Series I and H. Iowa’s annual quota and regional ranking highlight Alsia Tow’s second highest dollar volume in the nation for Series H among Midwest states. owners received midyear checks while E and bonds approached a portion of quotas.
Mrs ROA Heyde and Nane Reamer led the story hour at the Py le Library on Saturday June 18. The list includes Tickie Sudester children and many names such as Kathy Johnson, Jackies Kemble, Ann Grime, Ruth Arensols, Judy Bown, Karen Bechthold, and Greg Newell. The next six hours are scheduled for Saturday 0:00 showtime.
Audrey Reiter and Donald Admer of Black Hawk County win spots at the State 4-H Health Camp to be held August 1 to 5 at the State 4-H Camp in Boone County. Audrey, 16, daughter of Harold and Mrs Reiter of La Porte City, has 5 years in 4-H. Donald, 15, son of Hugh Miller, is a 6th year 4-H member of the Union Boisters 4-H Club. Both were selected by the county 4-H committee chaired by Teshe Newton.
Three La Porte City graduates Mahood Dvorak and Dennis Darnell prepare for Iowa State University summer orientation at Ames ahead of fall enrollment. Students are assigned to campuses June 6 to July 12 with parent participation and guidance from academic advisers to tailor freshman programs and tests for placement.

Best man was Ron Post, groom’s brother Larry Raymond and Dayl Piers brother-in-law of Mason Ushers were Kenneth Thome and Louis Adkisson. A reception followed at the Amvets and a wedding dance. The bride works as a secretary in United Auto Workers Local B38. Thome is employed by John Deere Water Hive Track Works.
A Waterloo area church meeting reports officers elected for 1960 61 including President Vine Traines Meyers Grundy Centre and treasurer Mrs T Lorenzen Waterloo. The Wilton group notes promotions mission relations and children work with several local names and churches cited. A separate note mentions an upcoming event honoring Eileen on her first holy communion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with attendees listed.

The Toursda Club members said families held a picnic in the park Thursday evening. The committee included Mesdames Eunice Hager Verlon Palmer and Williar ney and the Misses Minnerve rr and Hele. Planning The next meeting will be July 1 at the home of Mrs Melhir P vUCT
